Personnel changes and new responsibilities on the Board of thyssenkrupp Materials Services
- Martin Stillger succeeds CEO Dr. Klaus Keysberg as Executive Board Chairman
- Ilse Henne to become Chief Transformation Officer (CTO)
Following the appointment of Dr. Klaus Keysberg to the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp AG, the Board of the thyssenkrupp Materials Services business area is being partly restructured.
Martin Stillger (56) will succeed CEO Dr. Klaus Keysberg as Chairman of the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp Materials Services. This was resolved by the Supervisory Board of Materials Services at its meeting on December 6, 2019. Dr. Klaus Keysberg moved to the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp AG on October 1, 2019, where he is now responsible for the businesses of Steel Europe and Materials Services.
Stillger has held various leadership and management positions at thyssenkrupp Materials Services since 2008 – most recently as CEO of thyssenkrupp Schulte and the Western Europe and Technical Services operating units. Prior to joining thyssenkrupp the qualified mechanical engineer spent 17 years with Barmag AG, including five years as Chief Sales Officer and five as CEO. He will be succeeded as CEO of thyssenkrupp Schulte and the Western Europe operating unit by Detlef Schotten, currently CEO of the Eastern Europe and Asia/Pacific operating unit, on January 1, 2020.
“With Martin Stillger we now have a Board Chairman – as is already the case at our Steel division. He is an experienced manager from within our own ranks with many years of materials expertise. He has been involved in shaping our holistic, integrated customer approach and has the purpose and vision to take our strategy forward,” says Dr. Klaus Keysberg, thyssenkrupp Executive Board member responsible for the Materials Services and Steel Europe business areas.
Martin Stillger, Executive Board Chairman of thyssenkrupp Materials Services: “I am looking forward to my new duties. As a strong Board team we will drive and improve the businesses of Materials Services. We are aware of the current and future challenges and we have answers to them. Now we need to implement these answers as quickly and efficiently as possible so we can continue to meet our customers’ needs now and in the future as a dependable, innovative partner.”
In addition to the new role of Chairman for Martin Stillger, Ilse Henne, who was appointed Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2019, will take on the new position of Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) with immediate effect to drive transformation and growth at the biggest materials distributor and service provider in the western world. The role of COO will no longer be filled.
“Our “Materials as a Service” approach lays the foundations for the new direction of our business, focusing alongside our core materials distribution business on the systematic expansion of our service activities. We must now ensure this transformation permeates every corner of our business area. That means developing new potential, translating customer requirements into relevant and profitable products and services, redesigning and improving our processes and implementing new ways of working,” says Henne.
The Finance and Human Resources directorates on the Board of Materials Services remain unchanged: Daniel Wodera continues as CFO and Markus Bistram as CHRO.
