Compliance culture

thyssenkrupp has a broad understanding of compliance: compliance with the law and internal regulations is a must for us and part of our corporate culture. Compliance creates the framework for our business actions and serves to safeguard our long-term business success.

What we stand for

Values such as reliability, honesty, credibility, and integrity are not empty words to us, but permeate our corporate DNA. This is the standard we apply when developing our strategic compliance measures, creating a value culture which must be jointly supported and consistently lived by all employees. In this context special responsibility is assumed by our executives, who have entrepreneurial responsibility for compliance. All thyssenkrupp executives have a duty and a responsibility to ensure compliance with the law and internal regulations in their sphere of responsibility and to work to ensure compliance.

A written code of values provides the basis for our decisions. This value culture is embedded in our Mission Statement. Through our compliance commitment the Executive Board takes a firm stance, rejecting compliance violations of all kinds. This unequivocal commitment is supported by a code of conduct and various policies.

thyssenkrupp stands for fair and straight business

What's important to us is that our corporate philosophy is lived at all levels of the thyssenkrupp group in the interests of “good corporate governance”. We strive to ensure that there are no systemic weaknesses and deficits.

In a healthy corporate and leadership culture, a commitment to excellence and acting in accordance with a shared set of values go hand in hand. Violations of legal regulations and internal rules are incompatible with our understanding of compliance.

thyssenkrupp stands for fair and straight business – this is the standard we resolutely pursue. We would rather sacrifice a contract than win it by breaking the rules.

Our strategic focus areas

We are constantly refining our compliance management system and adapting it to thyssenkrupp’s transformation process.

In addition to antitrust law and anti-corruption, key compliance topics include data compliance, foreign trade law, and anti-money laundering.

Risk-Based Development

Using various risk analyses - including bottom-up and self-assessment approaches - that take into account the degree of autonomy of each business unit, we identify the objective compliance risks within the companies of the thyssenkrupp Group and assess the extent to which the compliance program has been implemented.

The results enable precise and efficient management of compliance activities at all levels.

Code of Conduct: Orientation for our employees

At thyssenkrupp, we firmly believe that responsibility, respect and compliance with rules and laws are the cornerstones of any cooperation.

Compliance-Commitment by the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp AG*

"As an international industrial and technology group with over 200 years of history, thyssenkrupp bears a social responsibility. Our sustainable economic success is based on innovative strength, technological expertise, quality, and customer focus. Our responsible conduct is defined by the strict adherence to all applicable rules and laws. Compliance is therefore given the highest priority.

With our Compliance program, thyssenkrupp has undertaken extensive measures to ensure that legal requirements in the areas of anticorruption, antitrust law, money laundering prevention, data compliance, and trade compliance, as well as the Group regulations based on these, are observed. Violations are not tolerated (zero tolerance).

To us, Compliance is a question of mindset: values such as reliability, honesty, credibility, and integrity permeate our corporate DNA. We would rather purposely forego a business opportunity or fail to reach our internal goals than act against the law.

The active participation of every executive and employee in implementing thyssenkrupp’s Compliance Program in their respective area of responsibility is essential to further strengthen the trust of customers, suppliers, shareholders, and society in thyssenkrupp."
