thyssenkrupp Steel offers high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels for modern lightweight automotive steel construction: hot-rolled chassis materials and high-ductility microalloyed steels for the suspension; high-strength cold-rolled dual-phase steels and manganese-boron steels for hot forming in vehicle structures; and surface-treated products for interior and exterior components.
The electric motor is the heart of an electric vehicle, and the non-grain-oriented electrical steel used in it determines its performance and efficiency. The non-grain-oriented powercore® traction grades are optimized for the requirements of sustainable electromobility.
Electrical steel is a soft magnetic material: It amplifies magnetic fields, which is crucial for torque — at the same time, it is important that as little energy as possible is lost as heat. In Europe, thyssenkrupp Steel is one of the leading manufacturers of non-grain-oriented electrical steel, offering top-tier performance in terms of magnetic properties and strength.
Under the selectrify® brand, thyssenkrupp Steel brings together its activities in the field of electromobility: from lightweight construction solutions for vehicle structures to safe battery enclosures and electrical steel for efficient electric drives. One example is the selectrify® battery housing: a steel-based design whose patented construction methods result in a weight that is virtually identical to that of aluminum battery housings — thus combining lightweight construction, safety, and fire protection.
With the bluemint® brand, thyssenkrupp Steel offers its customers all of its proven steel grades with reduced CO2 emissions — without compromising on quality and with the goal of cutting down CO2 emissions as much as possible.
