Since November 2021, we have welcomed 30 students from various STEM degree programs at the Technical University of Dortmund each year. Both bachelor’s and master’s students have the opportunity to apply for our one-year program. We provide selected participants with intensive support and offer a wide range of activities and experiences. These include interactive management training, inspiring career talks, as well as technical presentations and testimonials from former STEM talents who have successfully started their careers at thyssenkrupp. Our program fosters close exchange with #GENERATIONTK and offers exclusive insights into our company’s practice, as well as the opportunity to launch a career at thyssenkrupp.
In cooperation with the Ruhr University Bochum, we regularly offer interview training. Small groups of students come together on our campus to prepare for future job applications. Our training sessions combine theoretical foundations with practical exercises. Participants receive valuable insights and tips directly from our experienced recruiters. In addition, the personal atmosphere provides the opportunity to ask individual questions about CVs, cover letters, and more. This helps participants prepare optimally for their next applications as working students, interns, or for direct entry.
Since June 2024, we have offered female students from predominantly technical degree programs, such as the women’s mechanical engineering course at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in Mülheim, the opportunity to participate in our one-year mentoring program “Empower2Grow”. This program gives us an excellent opportunity to get to know female talent and support them on their career paths. As part of the program, ten female specialists and managers from various technical fields act as mentors to the students. Over the course of the year, mentor–mentee pairs meet regularly to exchange advice, feedback, and personal experiences. The program is complemented by career talks and a steelworks tour, offering participants exclusive insights into our practical work.
We support the Ruhr University Bochum motorsport team in Formula Student with our high-quality shock absorbers and extensive expertise. Our partnership kicks off with an exciting two-day event at the Nürburgring, where we present the latest shock absorber technology down to the smallest detail. Inspiring tech talks and performance tests on the test bench make the event an unforgettable experience and lay the foundation for our successful collaboration. Our partnership thrives on continuous exchange, supported by regular meetings and necessary tests. Our experts share their technical know-how with the team on an ongoing basis to achieve top performance together.
In collaboration with the Ruhr University Bochum, we are actively committed to fostering young talent through our involvement in the “Train the Tutor” programme. As part of this initiative, around 20 students participate in a hands-on workshop specifically designed to prepare them for their future roles as first-year tutors.
The workshop equips participants with valuable insights into effective semester planning, the didactic structuring of academic content, and the facilitation of interactive networking formats. This comprehensive preparation enables them to confidently support incoming first-year students as they begin their academic journey, offering guidance, fostering connections, and serving as reliable points of contact throughout the transition into university life.
