The future of mobility is being created today. And day by day. It is people like Martin Graf who are passionately working on the future of the automobile and its many details. At thyssenkrupp Steering in Eschen, Liechtenstein, the software engineer develops so-called Power Packs - powerful power sources that make electric steering possible in the first place.

Martin Graf has always had a soft spot for cars. After completing his apprenticeship at Rhätischen Bahn AG in Landquart, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, and his military service, he spent a few months assisting at a car workshop. But Martin wanted more: He joined thyssenkrupp Steering as a steering column designer in 2007. “When I took the job in 2007, I decided to do a degree in a software engineering part-time,” he reveals. This was his entry into the world of electrics/electronics (E/E).

Interplay between electronics and software

As an electrics/electronics (E/E) expert, it is the interplay between electronics and software that has fascinated Martin from an early age: "Electronics development in the automotive environment is definitely a major challenge. Increasing requirements and new trends constantly call for new technologies and innovations. As I enjoy taking on new challenges, I naturally like this dynamic very much."

Every day at thyssenkrupp Steering, Martin works on integrating electronics and software into the "overall car system". After all, "thyssenkrupp Steering doesn't 'just' develop and produce steering systems", as Martin emphasizes. "We also integrate our systems and modules into complex mechatronic assemblies."

It's clear that Martin has found his dream job at thyssenkrupp Steering. "The challenges are exactly what I'm looking for and what I've learned to love," he enthuses. "Here, I get to experience the technology of tomorrow up close in the vehicle and can help shape it."
