Uhde to build storage tank facility in Hungary
Hungary`s biggest chemical company, Tiszai Vegyi Kombinat RT. has awarded Uhde GmbH a contract for the engineering and construction of a new ethylene storage tank facility. The new facility, with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes, will be built at the Tiszaujvaros site, around 200 kilometres west of Budapest.
The contract includes the basic and detail engineering, supply of equipment, technical support during the construction work, training of the operating personnel and assistance during commissioning.
Completion of the plant is scheduled for the third quarter of 2004.
Uhde will be employing the proven `full containment tank` concept. This tank type has two walls and is designed to prevent gas escaping into the atmosphere in the case of a leak in the cup (inner tank) through containment of the ethylene in the outer tank.
The contract is worth approximately 8 million euros.
After the contract for a new oxychlorination plant awarded to Uhde GmbH by BorsodChem, this is now the second from Hungary to be received by the company within only eight weeks.
Uhde is a company in the ThyssenKrupp Technologies segment of the ThyssenKrupp Group and has a workforce of 3,500 employees worldwide. The company`s activities focus on the design and construction of chemical and other industrial plants in the following fields: fertilisers, organic chemicals and plastics, electrolysis, oil and gas and pharmaceuticals.
