Uhde takes over exclusive marketing of leading fertiliser technology
With effect August 31, 2005, Uhde Fertilizer Technology (UFT B.V.) has acquired the exclusive li-cence rights for the fluid-bed urea granulation technology from Yara Fertilizer Technology B.V. (YFT) of the Netherlands. Uhde Fertilizer Technology will thus take over the full rights to this tech-nology worldwide, including its licensing to other contractors. Uhde Fertilizer Technology (UFT B.V.) is a newly established subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Nederland B.V. to be domiciled in Roermond, the Netherlands.
"YFT's technology is the world's most successful urea granulation technology and is used in more than 50 urea plants. It was developed in 1975 and has proven itself in the fertiliser industry for over 30 years, thus representing the perfect enhancement to the Uhde group's portfolio of technology li-cences," said Dr. Wolfgang Essig, Chairman of Uhde's Executive Board. The biggest single-train YFT fluid-bed granulation unit with a capacity of 3,600 t/day is currently being built in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
In connection with the technology transfer Uhde Fertilizer Technology will have access within the Yara organization to resources for licensing, engineering and commissioning activities for an agreed period. Further development of the process is also guaranteed as a result of the permission granted by Yara Fertilizer Technology for the use of its research and development facilities, includ-ing a pilot plant in Sluiskil, the Netherlands.
