Trailing suction hopper dredgers for French harbor authority
The Marine Technology Lübeck Business Unit of Krupp Fördertechnik GmbH has received the order to build two trailing suction hopper dredgers for the French harbor authority Dragages-Ports. The order covers the complete engineering package and the delivery of the dredging components for one 5,000m3 and one 8,500m3 hopper suction dredger. Krupp Fördertechnik also has system responsibility for both vessels. The dredger with a hopper capacity of 5,000 m3 will work on the river Seine while the 8,500 m3 dredger will be operating on the Loire. With lengths of 104 m and 117 m the vessels will be the biggest hopper dredgers in France.
The two dredgers are of similar design and will be built together with the customer?s partner yard Astilleros Juliana in Gijon. They are due to be handed over to Dragages-Ports in the first and second quarters of 2002. The vessels have maximum dredging depths of 24 and 26 m and are equipped with 5 (5,000m3) or 7 (8,500m3) bottom valves for dumping the spoil.
With one 900 mm diameter side-suction pipe each, the dredgers have loading times of approximately 21 and 40 minutes. The total installed power is 7,800 kW and 9,500 kW, the sailing speed is 13 knots for both vessels.
