Renault has announced to equip four new models with an electric drive in the future. The French car maker will require many thousands of drive batteries based on lithium-ion cells for the small car Zoe alone. ThyssenKrupp System Engineering has received the order to plan and build an automatic assembly line for the manufacturing of these battery systems in France. The work is already in full swing.

The order confirms the commitment of ThyssenKrupp in the energy storage technology sector. On the base of decades of experience in automobile plant construction, innovative technologies are being developed.
Especially the entire cell production process at the plant and the module and battery assembly will be researched and developed at a technical school near Chemnitz which is being set-up.
Here it is not he individual machine that is in the focus but the entire plant as a turn key product .Significant measured quantities are product costs and product quality.

In the future, the use of electric energy storage will not only be restricted to the electro-mobility sector. There will be also a strong increasing demand from industry and private households.
