ThyssenKrupp Presta presents variable mechanical valve control
The Presta DeltaValveControl varies engine valve lift and opening angle depending on load. This makes it possible to control gasoline-engine load via the valve opening. It is therefore no longer necessary to throttle valve intake, as is the case in most engines today. In particular in part-load operation, this leads to a considerable reduction in pumping losses and thus to lower fuel consumption. Furthermore, in IC and diesel engines, variable valve timing permits faster valve intake and higher exhaust gas recirculation rates. This enhances engine efficiency and combustion while significantly reducing the share of hazardous emissions.
The Presta DeltaValveControl can be mounted on an existing cylinder head as a separate module with a range of functions. Functions include adjustable stroke control, cylinder shutoff, selective individual cylinder control and continuously variable valve control. Other advantages of the system are low cost and fast implementation on existing engines. With the Presta DeltaValveControl, ThyssenKrupp Presta has developed a forward-looking product for IC engines today and in the future.
