ThyssenKrupp Presta keeps its word
On June 15, 2004, Dr. Horst Rehberger, economics minister of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, handed over a grant offer letter for the further expansion of ThyssenKrupp Presta AG?s camshaft plant in Ilsenburg.
One of the conditions linked with the grant was the creation of 110 new jobs. A year later, 120 new positions have already been filled and 50 more are planned for the near future.
The new factory buildings, in which the first production lines are already in operation, were inaugurated exactly on schedule on July 1, 2005 thanks to an exemplary and highly efficient collaborative effort between the company and the authorities of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the district of Wernigerode and the town of Ilsenburg. The Ilsenburg plant now covers an area of almost 25,000 m².
Saxony-Anhalt?s economics minister Dr. Horst Rehberger said: ?ThyssenKrupp Presta?s repeated commitment is a sign of confidence in Saxony-Anhalt as a business location. This investment is also contributing toward the development of the Harz region into one of Eastern Germany?s most dynamic economic regions. Companies from the automotive supply sector in particular have located here in recent years, and established businesses have expanded their operations.?
Hermann Weißenhorn, managing director of the Engine Systems strategic business unit at ThyssenKrupp Presta, commented on the successful development of the Ilsenburg site:
?Under the management of Frank Altag, Ilsenburg has developed very quickly into one of our most important competency and production centers. In less than ten years there have been nine expansion phases, boosting the original workforce from eight to 300, plus eight apprenticeship places.?
And according to Frank Altag and Manfred Arlt, managing directors of the Ilsenburg plant: ?This new project for Ilsenburg will deliver top-quality high-tech products made in Saxony-Anhalt to the world automotive market and will make ThyssenKrupp Presta Ilsenburg one of the world market leaders in the camshaft sector.?
