ThyssenKrupp Group Works Council calls for donations for flood victims
In the wake of the devastation caused by the flooding, the Group Works Council of ThyssenKrupp AG has appealed for donations from all employees. In a letter to the workforce, they write: "Nobody can be left unmoved by the images of the flood disaster and the despair of the people who have suddenly lost everything they have worked for years to achieve. The extent of the damage in the towns and countryside cannot yet be quantified, but it doesn`t take statistics to show the suffering of the people. Help is needed, and it is needed quickly."
The Executive Board immediately decided that ThyssenKrupp would donate 1 million euros to help the victims. Most of the funds will be sent to areas where ThyssenKrupp employees are affected.
Because of the terrible extent of the devastation, people in the affected regions are literally in deep trouble. As ThyssenKrupp employees our only response can be to make a donation to give back a future to the flood victims.
Donations can be made to the following account: Beneficiary: ThyssenKrupp AG, Purpose: ThyssenKrupp Flutopferhilfe (flood victim relief fund), Account number: 44 44 77 4, Deutsche Bank AG, Düsseldorf, Bank code 30070010.
Thomas Schlenz is chairman and Wolfgang Boczek and Willi Segerath vice chairmen of the Group Works Council: "We guarantee that these donations will be used directly to benefit the victims. At ThyssenKrupp we know that solidarity is essential to survival. We will help!"
