Technical Ship Launching at Nordseewerke GmbH
Without any christening ceremony, the last container ship of the 2,700 TEU series for the moment was launched at Emden-based Nordseewerke GmbH – a company of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems – on December 7, 2007. Exactly at 11:00 o’clock the last stopper was removed and the ship glided silently into the water towards its hardest endurance test. Immediately after refloating, the ship was hauled at the outfitting peer where it will be finished. As desired by the customer and the shipping company, the ship will be given its name just before the delivery in March 2007.
The launching of Yard Number 555 is the last one of a series of ten 2,700 TEU ships. For the customer – the GEBAB shipping company in Meerbusch – it is the eighth 2,700 TEU container ship in succession manufactured in Emden. In total, GEBAB has got 32 ships from the Emden based shipyard by now. The next ship, planned to be laid on keel on December 17, 2007, is intended for this customer as well. It will be the first one of the new compact 3,400 TEU Class designed and developed by Nordseewerke.
The container ship was built according to German Lloyd regulations and features the following main technical data:
