Start of training year:ThyssenKrupp Stahl welcomes 326 new apprentices
Today saw the start of the new training year at ThyssenKrupp Stahl. There were 326 apprenticeship places to be filled in 14 different occupations. In Duisburg, 1,200 young people are being trained, in addition ThyssenKrupp Stahl trains 300 apprentices for other companies. Apprenticeship training is also provided at the Bochum, Dortmund, Finnentrop and Kreuztal-Eichen sites.
In Duisburg 211 new apprentices started their apprenticeship today, 62 of them will receive training in commercial jobs and 149 in technical/industrial occupations. Around 6,000 school-leavers applied for apprenticeship places at ThyssenKrupp Stahl.
The new apprentices were welcomed to ThyssenKrupp Stahl by Senior Vice President Klaus Bailer, Personal Services/Training, Works Council Member Tekin Nazikkol, and Joachim Weier, head of apprentice training. To ease the transition from school to working life, a one-week introductory course will once again be provided for all new apprentices.
For those interested in applying in 2006, an information event under the heading ?Meeting Point for Training? will once again be held on October 21, 2005 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on October 22, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Training Center on Franz-Lenze-Strasse in Duisburg-Hamborn.
