Start of production for a 2,700 TEU container ship at HDW-Gaarden
On June 7, 2006 the production started with the cutting of the first steel plate at HDW-Gaarden - a company of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems - for the first ship. The building program compromises a series of five container ship with a deadweight of 2,700 TEU each.
Two container ships with the hull nos. 392 and 393 are being built for the shipping company NSB / Buxtehude, Germany. The following ships with hull nos. 394, 395 and 396 are being built for the shipping company BUSS / Leer, Germany.
The building of the five container ships is a perfect example for comprehensive division of work within the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems group. Besides the building yard HDW-Gaarden the yards Nordseewerke and Blohm + Voss are involved as well.
