Rothe Erde wins BME Innovation Award 2009
Rothe Erde’s award-winning concept is based on an online system platform for the comprehensive handling of orders for complex services. The e-solution enables the complete implementation of the order process, from the definition of requirements right through to financial settlement, and is fully integrated in the company’s internal materials management system.
The suppliers’ itemization of detailed service components takes place in the form of bindingly offered service specifications. These specifications enable the user to draw up a comprehensive quotation analysis, on the basis of which purchasing negotiations are conducted and the corresponding order is placed. The new catalog-based ordering system also has far-reaching consequences for the in-house invoice control, since the use of an automated credit note procedure means that the auditing personnel are largely relieved of a diversity of time-consuming auditing activities.
Dr. Jürgen Marquard, the jury’s chairman and chairman of the BME Management Board on the Rothe Erde concept: “Rothe Erde has realized its vision of largely automating the procedure for the acquisition of complex services, from the definition of requirements right through to financial settlement via an innovative system solution. The system platform is a role model and also suitable for use in a variety of other sectors.”
“The new service handling system is of great significance for Rothe Erde”, reports Christoph Liefländer, head of Purchasing. “More than 11,000 orders for services placed with around 900 suppliers are handled per year at our plants in Dortmund, Lippstadt and Eberswalde. A characteristic feature of the Rothe Erde system is the simple and practical way in which the system is applied and handled, with the focus on the system-based dialog and exchange of data with the suppliers, supported by extensive help functions.”
