Reaching breezy heights in just 29seconds with ThyssenKrupp Aufzüge
Neuhausen/Munich. Those wanting to travel 146m safely and quickly, up to the top of southern Germany`s highest office block, will have to show patience for about another 16 months. At that stage, Munich`s prize tower block Uptown Munich will be complete - a project headed by the US real estate agency Hines. Also involved is the ThyssenKrupp Aufzüge GmbH, who just recently won the contract to supply 18 high-quality elevators for the project. Order value: 4,5 Million Euro. The four fastest elevators will carry visitors to the top floor at a speed of 6 metres in just 29 seconds. Two emergency services lifts will travel with a lifting height of 148 metres along 40 stops at a speed of 3.5 metres per second. The remaining elevators will reach speeds of 0.6 to 5 metres per second, operating between 2 and 14 stops.
These high performance elevators are manufactured at a facility in Neuhausen, near to Stuttgart. "We have decades of experience in this field and outstanding technologies in use" explains Wolfgang Mildenberger, spokesman for the plant`s management. "We installed our elevators throughout Commerzbank Frankfurt, housed in Europe`s highest office building and also supplied the DaimlerChrysler building in Berlin`s Potsdamer Platz, with the fastest elevator in all of Europe, able to reach a speed of 8.5 metres per second. Our elevators are operating in the London`s British Telecom tower, at a speed of 7 metres per second - the fastest in the UK.
As one of Europe`s leaders in elevator production, we develop and manufacture our elevator systems along with all the necessary components in-house. At our plant in Neuhausen, we have an extremely high degree of vertical integration. Through this, the optimal harmonisation between each individual unit is guaranteed."
The assembly of the first elevators should have begun by April of next year. The Uptown Munich tower block will be ready for occupancy by January of 2004.
