Queen Mary 2 in Hamburg
Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH has received the order for maintenance and repair work on the Queen Mary 2 for ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Repair Group in competition against strong rival domestic and foreign companies.
The world's largest cruise liner will arrive in Hamburg again on 8th November 2005 at around 8 pm. The Queen Mary 2, which was built in 2003, will be coming into dry-dock Elbe 17 for maintenance work for the first time.
Classification work and extensive painting work will be carried out in the dock. Moreover, the propulsion units as well as the four stabilisers will also be overhauled. The main work will also focus on the seating devices as well as the anchor winches.
Owing to the tight agenda and relatively short lay days in Hamburg, Blohm + Voss Repair employees have already gone on board the cruise liner in Southampton to carry out the necessary preparations for the work.
The Queen Mary 2 will leave the Hanseatic City again on 19th November 2005.
With the placing of the order, the Repair Group has once again proven its competence and competitiveness in the worldwide competition in the field of Life-Cycle Management and Refit.
