Premier Steinbrück and Prof. Dr. Schulz to open Ideas Park
North Rhine-Westphalia`s State Premier Peer Steinbrück and ThyssenKrupp AG CEO Prof. Dr. Ekkehard Schulz will open the Ideas Park AufSchalke at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2004.
Covering an area of 17,500 square meters, the Ideas Park will allow visitors to experience technology up close - true to its motto "Discovering future technology" - through a broad and varied program of technical exhibits, well-known stage guests and fun activities for the whole family to join in.
With its partners from the worlds of science, business, sport, politics and the media, ThyssenKrupp aims to use the Ideas Park to show the importance of innovations and technology for Germany`s future.
Following the official opening, Premier Steinbrück will join Prof. Dr. Schulz on a tour of the Ideas Park.
They will then take part in a podium discussion moderated by Heiner Bremer on the subject of "How do innovations develop - on the way to an innovative market economy". Other participants will be Prof. Christoph Schmidt, head of the research institute "Rheinisch Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung", Prof. Hartmut Michel, Nobel prize winner for chemistry, and Prof. Gerhard Wagner, principal of the Ruhr University Bochum.
