Portfolio optimization continues
As part of the active portfolio optimization program of ThyssenKrupp Technologies, a best owner solution has been found for the coordinate measurement machines unit of Sheffield Automation, a company of Giddings & Lewis, USA. With the sale of this activity, the Technologies segment has taken a further step forward in the restructuring of its Metal Cutting business unit.
The purchaser is the Swedish technology company Hexagon, whose international activities are organized into four business areas: Automation, Engineering, Metrology and Polymers.
Sheffield Automation specializes in the manufacture of measurement and control equipment. The Sheffield Automation coordinate measurement machines ideally complement Hexagon`s product range and will become part of the Metrology business area. The acquisition will further expand Hexagon`s global presence.
In the past fiscal year alone, ThyssenKrupp made 39 changes to its portfolio. Since the merger in 1999 companies with a sales volume of 3.6 billion euros have been sold and companies with sales of 5.5 billion acquired.
