Personnel changes at ThyssenKrupp effective October 1, 2001
The following changes to the Executive Board and Supervisory Board of ThyssenKrupp AG and executive boards and supervisory boards of ThyssenKrupp Steel, ThyssenKrupp Automotive and ThyssenKrupp Technologies take effect on October 1, 2001.
ThyssenKrupp AG
Dr. Heinz Kriwet (69) is to resign as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at September 30, 2001, although he will remain a member of the Supervisory Board of ThyssenKrupp AG. His successor as Supervisory Board Chairman effective October 1, 2001 is Dr. Gerhard Cromme (58), previously Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG. Dr. Kersten von Schenck (49) is resigning from the Supervisory Board at the end of fiscal year 2000/2001.
From October 1, 2001 Prof. Dr. Ekkehard Schulz (60) will be the sole Executive Board Chairman of ThyssenKrupp AG. At the same time he will step down as chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG. His successor is Dr. Ulrich Middelmann (56), previously Executive Board member responsible for Controlling and Mergers & Acquisitions at the holding company. From October 1, 2001 Dr. Middelmann also becomes Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG.
Dr. Cromme`s successor as executive board chairman of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG is Dr. Jürgen Harnisch (58), previously vice chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive. Dr. Harnisch has also been appointed to the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG effective October 1, 2001.
Dr. Hans-Erich Forster (60), Jürgen Rossberg (61) and Dr. Heinz-Gerd Stein (61) have each agreed to their terms of office being shortened by one year (Dr. Forster`s appointment to be cancelled at December 31, 2002, Mr. Rossberg`s at December 31, 2001 and Dr. Stein`s at September 30, 2002). The Supervisory Board will pass a corresponding resolution in its next meeting on November 9, 2001.
Two new Executive Board members are to be appointed for the functions of Dr. Jooss (60) and Dr. Stein as well as for the function previously managed by Dr. Middelmann. Once their successors have been decided, and following an appropriate induction period, Dr. Jooss and Dr. Stein will retire.
ThyssenKrupp Steel AG
Prof. Dr. Ekkehard Schulz, from October 1, 2001 sole Executive Board Chairman of ThyssenKrupp AG, has resigned his seat as chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG at September 30, 2001. On October 1, 2001 he will take over as the company`s supervisory board chairman as successor to Dr. Heinz Kriwet, who has resigned his seat as member and chairman of the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG at September 30, 2001.
Dr. Ulrich Middelmann, from October 1, 2001 Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG, has been appointed successor to Prof. Dr. Schulz as chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG effective October 1, 2001.
By mutual agreement, Dr. Wolfgang Kohler (57) is resigning as vice chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel and as executive board chairman of ThyssenKrupp Stahl on September 30, 2001. However, he will continue to hold seats on supervisory boards and bodies of the ThyssenKrupp Group and thus retain links with the company in an advisory capacity. His successor as vice chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel and executive board chairman of ThyssenKrupp Stahl is Dr. Karl-Ulrich Köhler (45), currently executive board member of ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG responsible for the technology directorate.
ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG
Prof. Dr. Ekkehard Schulz has been appointed to the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG and elected chairman of the supervisory board. Dr. Heinz-Gerd Stein has resigned his seat as member and chairman of the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG. Dr. Hans-Erich Forster has resigned from the supervisory board. Dieter Hennig has joined the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG. At his own request, Siegfried Bleicher (60), previously vice chairman of the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG, has resigned from the supervisory board. Peter Gasse (48), Regional Manager IG Metall North Rhine-Westphalia, has been appointed member of the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG.
At his own request, Dr. Siegfried Buschmann (64) has resigned his seats as member and vice chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG and as chief executive officer of US subsidiary The Budd Company, Troy/Michigan at September 30, 2001. Dr. Buschmann remains non-executive chairman of the board of The Budd Company and has joined the supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG.
Effective October 1, 2001, Dr. Wolfram Mörsdorf (52), member of the executive board of Thyssen Umformtechnik + Guss GmbH, Bo-chum, has been appointed member of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG and CEO of The Budd Company.
ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG
Dr. Ulrich Middelmann has taken over from Dr. Gerhard Cromme as chairman of the supervisory board. Following the death of Alfred Wern on July 17 and the resignation of Tyark Allers (60) at September 30, arrangements had to be made for successors on the company`s executive board responsible for the Production Systems and Plant Technologies units. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Rolf Lidl (60) has been appointed executive board member with operational responsibility for the management of the business units Assembly Plant, Autobody Manufacturing Systems and Metal Cutting.
The executive board member with operational responsibility for the business units Krupp Polysius, Krupp Uhde and ThyssenKrupp EnCoke, previously managed by Mr. Allers, is Dr.-Ing. Heinrich Igelbüscher (58) effective October 1, 2001. He will also continue to be responsible for ThyssenKrupp Transrapid. Krupp Fördertechnik will in future be managed by the executive board chairman of the Technologies segment, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eckhard Rohkamm (58).
Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien (46) has been appointed deputy member of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG effective October 1, 2001. He will then be responsible for the business units previously managed by Dr. Igelbüscher, Krupp Elastomertechnik, B+V Industrie, Thyssen Henschel and Krupp Stahlbau.
