New price steps for carbon steel flat products
The competitive situation on the European steel market has eased increasingly over recent months. Demand has shown a positive trend since the beginning of the year and reached a high level. Against this background ThyssenKrupp Stahl succeeded in implementing the 30 euros/t price increase announced for flat carbon steel products at July 1, 2002.
To regain a satisfactory revenue level following the price falls in 2001, the following further steps are planned:
・
For supplies from October 1, 2002 ThyssenKrupp Stahl will increase prices for all flat carbon steel products by a further 20 euros/t. With a 3-month order backlog, new orders for the 4th calendar quarter will be booked at the new prices with immediate effect.
・
Effective January 1, 2003 the quarterly prices will again be increased by a similar margin.
・
Likewise from the beginning of 2003, the annual agreements with key customers will be subject to a substantial price increase to reflect the various price increases implemented in the course of 2002 for other supplies.
