New Ideas in Yacht and Merchant Ship Building
Blohm + Voss at the Int. Boat Show Ft. Lauderdale in Florida and the Seatrade Europe in Hamburg
In the time from October 29 to November 3, 2003, Blohm + Voss GmbH, a company of ThyssenKrupp Werften, will be among the exhibitors at the Seatrade Europe in Hamburg and the Int. Boat Show Ft. Lauderdale in Florida.
At the 44th Int. Boat Show Ft. Lauderdale, Florida taking place from October 30 to November 3, 2003, a new yacht project - a 147 m luxury yacht - will be presented at Stand No. 656. This project is a result of a co-operation with the designer Hermidas Atabeyki, Paris. The Boat Show comprises six exhibition locations on more than 275,000 m² both on land and water.
In Ft. Lauderdale Blohm + Voss will also present the further development of the "Virtual Ship" introduced last year at the SMM in Hamburg. On a large screen, an animation film with photo-realistic quality will present the project of a 103m yacht. The film includes impressive sequences such as an helicopter approach (taken from the cockpit), an approach of the ship, the lowering of the tender boat, a walk through different rooms and illumination at night.
Another innovation in yacht construction is the CODAG WARP® Luxury Mega Yacht. For this yacht, Blohm + Voss has made use of the synergy potentials resulting from the latest developments in yacht and naval vessel construction. For the first time, a combined diesel and gas turbine-waterjet propulsion system as successfully tested on board the MEKO® A-200 SAN corvette for the South African Navy will be integrated into a yacht project.
With the new project "Fast Cruise Liner FM 175" Blohm + Voss will participate at the Seatrade Europe taking place in the Congress Centre Hamburg (hall 3, stand 245) in the time from October 29 to 31. This project is the continuation of the development of the two cruise liners "Olympia Voyager" and "Olympia Explorer" featuring the patented Fast Monohull technology. The cruise liner FM 175 is longer than its predecessors, has one more deck and thus space for another 100 passengers. The proven propulsion concept was directly taken over from the predecessor ships.
Thanks to the Fast Monohull technology, the specific fuel consumption will only be about 2 - 3 percent of the ticket price, even lower than on the predecessor ships, despite an increase in the passenger`s comfort. The new cruise liner is equipped with two restaurants, a show lounge, a casino, bars, shops, fitness and wellness areas, an outside pool, a whirlpool and a jogging track.
For 125 years the name Blohm + Voss has been standing for quality in shipbuilding, which is ensured by the latest production facilities and technical possibilities. Blohm + Voss has got completely roofed building docks, a modern laser cutting and welding plant and the latest virtual reality systems.
