Mobility for Expo Zaragoza 2008
ThyssenKrupp Elevator is again involved in a project of international significance in Spain. On the site of the World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, installation of the first two of a total of 36 escalators and nine moving walks has commenced. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is thus taking on an important role in visitor transportation at the next World Expo in the provincial capital from June 14 until September 14, 2008.
Organizers are expecting over six million visitors during the three months. Over 100 nations as well as national and international companies and organizations will participate in Expo Zaragoza 2008.
The ThyssenKrupp Elevator escalators will be installed in various Expo buildings, including the Congress Hall, the Aquarium and the Water Tower. The latter is the trademark of the Expo Zaragoza, the motto of which is “water and sustainable development.” The nine moving walks will be installed outdoors on the Expo site, transporting up to 6,750 people per hour to an elevation of over eight meters.
Elevators for Valencia’s largest hotel
In Valencia, Spain’s third largest city and first European city to host the America’s Cup regatta, ThyssenKrupp Elevator is also involved in a prominent project. The recently opened Hilton Valencia is the biggest and tallest hotel in the Mediterranean metropolis. At 117 meters it is also the tallest building in the city. ThyssenKrupp Elevator supplied nine elevators and two lifting platforms for the 304-room hotel. The two towers of the Hilton represent another reference project in Valencia, where the Oceanic Center is home to the first TWIN system in Spain. In this elevator system exclusive to ThyssenKrupp Elevator two cabs run independently in one shaft, thus saving time, space and energy.
