Million-euro contract for ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy
A consortium comprising ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy GmbH, Duisburg, and Baumgarte Boiler Systems GmbH, Bielefeld, has been awarded by Bremen public services swb Erzeugung, Bremen, the contract to build a new energy recovery plant engineered to incinerate alternative medium-calorie combustibles (medium CVs) and able to supply around 60,000 homes with electricity. The contract is worth a total €37 million and the plant scheduled to come on stream at the start of 2009.
Medium-calorie combustibles may be sourced from both normal waste residuals but also directly in the course of industrial processes. Their mean CV is 14 MJ/kg, the bandwidth ranging from 11 to 18 MJ/kg. Under full-load conditions, the new plant will feed around 29 MW (electric) into the swb Erzeugung grid, equivalent to electricity for about 60,000 households.
With a steam output of 127 t/h and at 40 bar main steam pressure and 400 °C main steam temperature, this is the biggest ever incineration boiler engineered by Baumgarte Boiler Systems GmbH. ThyssenKrupp Xervon Energy will supply the water-cooled moving grate and its accessory equipment.
