Marcel Fasswald appointed to the board of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions
Marcel Fasswald (48) will become Chief Operating Officer (COO) of thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG on April 1, 2018. He joins the company from plant engineering company SMS group, where he was a member of the managing board acting as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Johan Cnossen (58) will step down from the board at his own request at the end of March. He will continue to support the company, taking on new responsibilities including the expansion of the international client network.
“Marcel Fasswald is a manager with excellent knowledge of the plant engineering business. His operational expertise and international experience will further strengthen our team. Marcel Fasswald joined SMS group’s managing board in 2015. As a qualified engineer he brings international experience from several management positions in plant engineering at SMS. Before being appointed to the board, he was Technical Director and Head of Engineering and for six years CEO and Managing Director of SMS group in India. He began his career in 1995 at Mannesmann Demag Hüttentechnik, which was integrated into SMS group in 1999.
As COO Johan Cnossen laid the foundations for important future projects. These include the “Network of Excellence”, a newly created organization bringing together the core competencies required for project delivery in plant engineering. In addition, Johan Cnossen focused on strengthening relationships with key customers and developing markets in the Middle East and India.
