Major order for ThyssenKrupp Presta
Position as leading producer of assembled camshafts strengthened
ThyssenKrupp Presta assembled camshafts will pass another test in the high-tech "world engines" jointly developed by BMW and PSA which will be used from 2005 in the new Peugeot-Citroën models and the BMW-Mini. This is the largest order so far in the history of the ThyssenKrupp Automotive subsidiary with headquarters in Eschen (Liechtenstein) with a volume of around 300 m euros over a period of eight years from 2005.
The successful ThyssenKrupp Automotive subsidiary beat off significant international competition with this new order from the French auto manufacturer PSA. At the same time, ThyssenKrupp Presta confirmed its leading position in the sector of assembled camshafts for gasoline and diesel car engines.

The assembled camshaft offers the possibility of using the most appropriate load and cost-effective materials for the individual parts. Due to its optimum operating conditions for modern highly stressed engines, it also fulfills the similar requirements for use in the new PSA and BMW engine.
In addition, the weight saving of around 30% in comparison to conventional forged or cast shafts is particularly important as regards lightweight construction and therefore fuel consumption.
