Launch of ThyssenKrupp Titanium
Deutsche Titan has more than 50 years of experience in the research, development and manufacture of high-performance materials. The tradition of titanium production at Krupp and Thyssen is now being continued under a new name: since the start of the year, Deutsche Titan GmbH (DTG) in Essen/Germany has been trading under the name ThyssenKrupp Titanium GmbH, while Titania S.p.A. in Terni/Italy is now called ThyssenKrupp Titanium S.p.A. The 110 employees at the Essen plant produce titanium ingots and bars, while the 130-strong workforce in Terni manufactures sheet, coil and tubular products. Together they generated sales of some 110 million euros in the past fiscal year.
ThyssenKrupp Titanium, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Stainless AG Duisburg/Germany, is implementing extensive measures in particular at the Essen site to further expand its business. In this way, the company intends to profit from the rising demand for titanium products on the world market. Titanium and titanium alloys are mainly used in the aerospace, chemical plant and offshore industries, with additional applications in the medical, automotive and architecture sectors. “This will allow us to participate actively in the growth of the market and establish an outstanding position with key customers in the aerospace and plant construction sectors,” says Jürgen Fechter, Executive Board Chairman of ThyssenKrupp Stainless.
