Krupp Uhde to design and supply fertiliser complex for Turkmenistan
GAP INSAAT of Turkmenistan, a subsidiary of Calik Holding of Istanbul, Turkey, has commissioned Krupp Uhde with the design and construction of a natural gas-based fertiliser complex comprising an ammonia plant and an urea plant. The plants are to be situated in Tedjen, Turkmenistan, 220 km to the east of the capital Ashgabat. The end customer for these fertiliser plants is the Turkmenistan government, who awarded the main contract to GAP INSAATYATIRIM VE DIS TICARET A.S., Turkmenistan branch.
Krupp Uhde`s scope of services includes the design, supply and commissioning supervision of the fertiliser complex. The ammonia plant will produce 600 tonnes per day using Krupp Uhde`s proprietary low-energy ammonia process. The urea plant will produce 1,050 tonnes per day of urea (granulation) using Netherlands-based Stamicarbon`s pool reactor process. Belgium-based Hydro Fertilizer Technology`s fluidised-bed process will be used for the granulation. This process conforms to the stringent international environmental regulations and also guarantees a product with an even grain size and good hardness.
The entire construction work will be carried out by GAP INSAAT, Turkmenistan branch.
The fertiliser complex is scheduled to start production in late 2004.
An early work agreement has now been signed with Krupp Uhde.
