Krupp Uhde, of Dortmund, Germany, and the Gruppo De Nora, of Milan, Italy, agreed on cooperation in the field of electrolysis, and on the foundation of a common company as a joint venture in Milan, as soon as all necessary approvals have been obtained from the relevant authorities.

The two companies intend to combine their technologies and expertise in Research and Development, in order to provide their worldwide alkaline chloride industry customers with even better performance in the fields of planning, design, construction and after-sales service for electrolysis plants. It is our target to optimise the relevant technologies and to reduce even further the energy consumption.

Krupp Uhde and De Nora have experience stretching back over decades in this field and have constructed over one hundred reference plants around the world. They now have subsidiaries on all continents.

Thanks to De Nora Elettrodi's own highly specialized cell element and electrode coating facility, the new company will be able to supply complete electrolysis plants from a single source, further strengthening Krupp Uhde and De Nora's position vis-à-vis intense international competition.

Since 1923, De Nora has been one of the world leaders in the development of new technologies and industrial processes, particularly for the alkaline chloride industry. The company employs a total of 650 staff, with 350 in Italy and 300 abroad.

Krupp Uhde was founded in 1921 and is now part of the ThyssenKrupp group. The company employs 3500 persons around the world, its main fields of activity, alongside chlorine alkali electrolysis, being in the engineering and construction of plants for fertilisers, organic chemicals, polymers, oil and gas technology and pharmaceuticals.
