Growth at around 35 percent - Triaton is the new "core brand" for ThyssenKrupp`s IT activities
ThyssenKrupp`s Information Services concluded the fiscal year 2000/2001 (September 30) with a sales increase of ca. 35 percent, to just under 500 million euro. With this, they are among Germany`s fastest growing IT service providers. The systems house Triaton GmbH, Krefeld, which is now the new "core brand" for the group`s IT activities, generated the largest part of these sales. Two out of three euro were transacted with customers from outside ThyssenKrupp. This makes Triaton the only German systems house, beside the former Debis, to pull off the transition from internal service provider to the open market.
And the success story continues: In the first months of the new fiscal year, the profitably operating Triaton has already acquired over 50 new customers with a total job volume of 35 million euro - among them Ruhrgas and Alessa Chemie.
Triaton has 2,400 of ThyssenKrupp Information Services` total of 3,200 IT employees at 39 locations around the world. Its aim: Triaton intends to continue its growth - in the international arena as well - and take an active part in the upcoming consolidation of the market, through either acquisitions or mergers.
IT outsourcing for industry
Triaton stems from the former IT subsidiaries of Thyssen, Krupp, Hoesch and Hoechst and thanks to this history, has long-standing industrial know-how. The company is profiting above all from the current trend of outsourcing IT tasks to external service providers. A successful entrance over a limited-time project often - currently in 80 percent of all cases - leads to assuming responsibility for IT operations over a number of years. Customers can then, while making previous fixed costs variable - they pay only for the services actually used - , concentrate fully on their core business.
Broad and deep range of services
Triaton plans, realizes and operates IT solutions from a single source for customers that are for the most part from industry. Services rendered by Triaton include computer center services, construction and operation of networks, implementation and maintenance of new software or onsite services for computers, EDP networks and telephone systems.
The range of outsourcing services extends from selective outsourcing up to taking over complete business processes. This way, customers` production runs, purchasing and sales as well as administrative tasks are more efficiently organized. Circa 100 teams of specialists for nearly all common software products see to this.
Customers around the world
Triaton`s Hosting Center supplies, among other things, monthly wage and salary settlements for 350,000 employees from outside the ThyssenKrupp group. Triaton specialists are also at hand when firms around the world need computer capacity. Thus computer center services are rendered for 150 companies, for example Aventis, at 1,800 locations. The systems house is represented in the industrial centers surrounding e.g. Dallas, New York / New Jersey, Detroit, Sao Paulo, Paris, Peking, Shanghai and Singapore.
The, for the most part, internationally established customers are from the steel/metal, chemical/pharmaceutical/health care, mechanical and plant engineering as well as automotive sectors. Triaton has developed integrated IT solutions to handle the statute-conform management of hazardous goods on an automated basis for large chemical groups such as Celanese or Honeywell. For AT Attachment-Technologie, a leading mechanical and plant engineering firm,Triaton has realized user-friendly Web shop systems . And a complex Internet-based procurement platform was implemented and put into operation for its own group.
Another large group of customers are circa 250 hospitals with a total of around 65,000 beds. Here, over its subsidiary ThyssenKrupp Health Care Services, Triaton supports the medical and administrative areas with specific IT consulting and solutions, e.g. SAP. As a general contractor, ThyssenKrupp Health Care Services handles and takes responsibility for large-scale interdisciplinary projects such as planning the reorganization of operations at the Jena University Clinical Center. Other customers are from the social services and ecclesiastical administration business fields.
