The MARC steam turbine series have gained high repute in the field of power engineering since their launch in 1997. Now, the model range developed by B+V Industrietechnik (BVI) celebrates its first anniversary: on February 5, 2003, BVI received the order for the fiftieth MARC steam turbine. The client is the operator of the waste incineration plant ANO in Bremen, Germany, who ordered a backpressure turbine of type MARC 4 with an electrical output of 12.3 MW.

Generally, the steam turbine field proved to be starting very successfully into the year 2003. During the first two months of the calendar year until today five orders have been received. The total order quantity amounts to 15 million euros.

In January, the Swiss company Caliqua AG ordered a MARC 2 turbine with an electrical output of 7.05 MW which will be utilised in the waste incineration plant KVA in Trimmis, Switzerland. The second order, induced by Urbas Maschinenfabrik, consists of 5.4 MW MARC 2 for the biomass power plant Ybbs/Danube in Austria.

Beginning of February, a contract for two steam turbine plants was concluded by Technip-Coflexip transacting business for RWE Power AG. This order is part of a modernisation project concerning the Bochum and Dortmund locations. The Bochum heating plant fuelled with natural gas will be supplied with a MARC 4 condensing turbine (electrical output 21 MW) and a downstream heating condenser (29 MW). By means of this turbine, together with a new heat supply station and an increase in automation, the heating plant will be turned into a CHP-plant. The plant provides Adam Opel AG as well as the Bochum university with heat and power. The Dortmund CHP-plant operated by RWE Power AG in Dortmund generates district heating for the communal power supply. For this plant, BVI will supply a MARC 4 backpressure turbine with an electrical output of 12.4 MW. Both turbines are scheduled for delivery in April 2004.

The MARC (Modular ARrangement Concept) steam turbine generation sets new standards through high efficiencies, low investment costs and flexible assembly. The standardised modules comply with the client`s individual requirements. The product range comprises backpressure, condensing and heating turbines, which can be provided with controlled and uncontrolled extractions. Four basic types cover a power range from 3 to 50 MW.
