EBOR GmbH to expand capacities and create new jobs
In the first phase of expansion in 2005, ThyssenKrupp Nirosta invested more than 7 million euros in Sachsenheim as part of a strategic expansion program. With the acquisition of additional operating land, the capacities for the core business were expanded through the construction of additional buildings and the commissioning of new production equipment. The Stainless group has now decided to further expand EBOR and thus continue its service offensive. “We are setting new standards of customer focus. We aim to achieve additional sales through even more services and by establishing a stronger service orientation in the group,” says Dr. Alfred Otto, ThyssenKrupp Nirosta sales director.
To expand its production capacities, EBOR Edelstahl GmbH has bought around 1.85 hectares of land in the Holderbüschle II industrial zone. Before the contract was signed, Sachensheim district council had to modify its development plan to allow a 216 square meter public area to be built on by EBOR. With the approval of the city, EBOR can combine the newly purchased site with land already in its possession, which will significantly improve logistics for the company.
The total investment in the expansion of finishing and processing capacity is around 14 million euros. Half of the newly acquired land will be used to build two further production shops covering an area of 4,300 square meters. In addition, a small social and administration wing with roughly 15 office units will be built on to the production buildings. Further projects in Sachsenheim include the building of a slitting line and a sheet coating line. The new coating line will be used to apply a gossamer-thin coating which among other things will help prevent fingerprint marks. The innovative new coating “Silver Ice” is used in particular for the front panels of kitchen appliances. Further investment funds will be required for the relocation and modernization of existing cut-to-length lines and the expansion and modernization of guillotine shear capacity.
As part of the expansion program, the workforce at EBOR will increase from almost 80 at present to over 100. Last fiscal year, EBOR generated sales of roughly 60 million euros and shipped around 25,000 tons of stainless flat products.
