Early Christmas present for terminally ill children
Löwenherz children’s hospice in Syke received an early Christmas present today in the form of a check for 2,500 euros. The present came from employees of the Bremen service center of ThyssenKrupp Anlagenservice who had won the money in a company competition. “We asked all employees at the base how the prize money should be used. The suggestion for a donation came from within the workforce and was accepted by a large majority,” says branch manager Kai Engstfeld.
Manager Barbara Frerker accepted the check on behalf of the children’s hospice: “I was delighted when Mr. Engstfeld rang me at the beginning of December. We rely on donations from the public to support the children’s families not just in the run-up to Christmas, though of course in particular at this time.” Families also stay at Löwenherz children’s hospice over the Christmas and New Year period. The hospice cares for children with terminal illnesses for which modern medicine has not yet found a cure. It can accommodate eight children with their parents, brothers and sisters. Up to 150 families can stay at the hospice each year.
