Customer base and service spectrum expanded - WISAG Group acquires ThyssenKrupp HiServ
The WISAG Group - Germany`s second biggest facility management provider - acquired ThyssenKrupp HiServ GmbH (sales 225 million euros, approx. 1,200 employees, currently no. 9 on the German market) from the ThyssenKrupp Group at the close of September 30, 2004.
The acquisition will boost the WISAG Group`s capabilities in the field of technical facility management, give it a stronger regional presence (above all in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg and Saxony) and provide improved access to the strategically attractive industrial market, where ThyssenKrupp HiServ is well established as a service provider - only 6% of its sales were generated within the ThyssenKrupp Group.
WISAG chief executive Bernd Jacke says: "The acquisition of HiServ will significantly strengthen our portfolio. We look forward to extending and consolidating our capabilities and market position with our new colleagues. For the time being, HiServ will continue to be run as an independent company with its German locations. In the medium term we are confident that we will be able to successfully integrate the company in the WISAG Group."
Including ThyssenKrupp HiServ, the WISAG Group will have annual sales of more than 600 million euros and a workforce of around 19,000. WISAG pursues a dual strategy - to extend its existing market position in facility management in general and technical facility management in particular, and to gain access to the strategically attractive industrial market, which it has now achieved through the acquisition.
The disposal of its facility management activities represents a continuation of ThyssenKrupp Services AG`s systematic portfolio optimization and concentration on supply and process services for industrial customers. The Hünnebeck group (scaffolding) was sold last fiscal year, and the Triaton group (IT services) in April of this year. The ThyssenKrupp Group`s trading and service business currently employs some 34,000 people worldwide and has sales of over 11 billion euros.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
