COLOR FANTASY In Hamburg For First Inspection
Faced with stiff national and international competition, Blohm + Voss Repair has won the order for classification work on the world's largest cruise ferry with car decks - the M/S COLOR FANTASY. The cruise ferry, which is owned by the Norwegian shipping company Color Line, has been plying between Kiel and Oslo since December 2004.
The COLOR FANTASY will be floated into dock 11 in the morning of January 9 between 10.00 and 12.00 h and is scheduled to leave the yard on January 13. Due to the short docking period, Blohm + Voss staff boarded the ship already in Kiel on January 7 in order to begin with preparation works.
In the course of the 5-day docking period, a considerable amount of conversion and installation work will be carried out. Among others, the cabins for passengers and truck drivers, the fitness room and the on-board cinema will be renewed, a new window washing system is to be installed on the panorama deck and an additional windscreen will be fitted at the "Sports & Burger Bar". In addition to this, the hull paintwork will be retouched, some mechanical engineering work will be carried out and a new store room will be built.
The COLOR FANTASY has a capacity for 2,750 passengers and offers a spa and fitness center, a shopping promenade and eight different restaurants. 3,320 lane meters provide enough space for 750 vehicles and another 1,270 lane meters are reserved for cargo only.
