Changes in the Executive Board at ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG
Gerhard Kempf, executive board member of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG, spokesman for the executive board of the Surface Vessel Division, and spokesman of the management board of the Repair Group, will leave his position on March 31, 2006, to enter into retirement. The executive board and supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG wish to thank him for his extraordinary commitment and the merits of his accomplishments in the company over many years.
The supervisory board of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG nominated three additional executive board members, effective as of April 1, 2006:
・ Dr. Herbert Aly will become an executive board member of the Marine Service Division, which was created from the former Repair Group. Additionally, he will represent this Division in the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG.
・ Dr. Christian Eckel will transfer from the executive board of the Submarine Division to the executive board of the Surface Vessel Division as of April 1, representing the latter Division in the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG. Dr. Eckel will continue to maintain his responsibilities in the management board of Nordseewerke GmbH.
・ Andreas Burmester will succeed Dr. Eckel and will be responsible for the technical department in the Submarine Division.
Dr. Herbert Aly
Since March 1, 2004, Dr. Aly has been spokesman for the management board of B + V Industrietechnik GmbH. Born in Goslar in 1958, he studied mechanical engineering and marine engine construction as a naval officer at the University of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg and the University of Hannover and received a doctorate. In 1989, he joined the Energy and Environmental Technology Division of Blohm + Voss AG. In the time from 1996 and 2004 he was managing director and managing partner of various energy and plant engineering companies.
Andreas Burmester
Since 2001, Burmester has been head of the submarine production division of HDW AG - today HDW GmbH. Born in Lübeck in 1963, Burmester started his career with an apprenticeship as a fitter. Upon completion of his university studies, he joined HDW AG and was granted power of procuration in 2001.
Dr. Christian Eckel
Since October 2003, Dr. Eckel has been member of the management board of Nordseewerke GmbH. Born in 1956 in Eutin, the graduated mechanical and welding engineer has been working at Thyssen Nordseewerke - today Nordseewerke GmbH - in various positions. Since 1994, he has been deputy head of the ARGE U 212 Project Management with the then consortial partner HDW in Kiel. At the beginning of 2005, after the establishment of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG, Dr. Eckel was appointed executive board member of the Submarine Division.
Gerhard Kempf
Since April 1999, Gerhard Kempf has been managing director of Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH. Born in 1941 in Leonberg, the graduate engineer learned the trade from the bottom up: He started his career in 1958 by serving an apprenticeship as a shipbuilder and in 1965, after completing his education as a shipbuilding and welding engineer, joined Rheinstahl Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden - now Nordseewerke GmbH. At the beginning of 2005, after the establishment of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG, Kempf was appointed executive board member of the Surface Vessel Division, management board member of the Repair Group and executive board member of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems AG.
