ThyssenKrupp Energostal S.A, Torún, a materials trading subsidiary of Düsseldorf-based ThyssenKrupp Services AG, is stepping up its activities in Poland and is currently building a central warehouse for steel, tubes and nonferrous metals in Poznan at a total cost of six million euros. Operations will be phased in gradually up to the end of 2005, at which time an additional 18,000 square meters of warehouse space will be available.

On completion, the new complex will be the materials hub for ThyssenKrupp Energostal`s twelve branches in Poland, further boosting the company`s nationwide warehousing and service business and optimizing logistics to the benefit of customers. ThyssenKrupp Services director Joachim Limberg says: "We serve all the country`s major economic regions and conurbations with our broad range of materials. The new central warehouse will allow us to supply our customers from industry, the trades and the construction sector even more quickly."

Since its acquisition by ThyssenKrupp in 2001, Energostal has undergone strong expansion. The workforce has grown to 450 and sales have quintupled to 180 million euros.

ThyssenKrupp Services regards Eastern Europe as a highly attractive growth market. Subsidiaries in Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic supply local industry and manufacturing with a wide range of materials from stock. On June 1, 2004, ThyssenKrupp Materials was also established in Russia with locations in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

These companies now generate sales of 300 million euros in Eastern Europe and employ almost 1,000 people.
