At 8.45 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2004, the starter`s gun will sound at the Sportpark Duisburg-Wedau to signal the beginning of the 21st Rhine-Ruhr marathon. ThyssenKrupp is once again the main sponsor of this major event. Also taking place are the 5th inline marathon, incorporating the "Inline World Cup", and the 3rd Rhine-Ruhr half-marathon.

ThyssenKrupp`s own team competition is as much a tradition as the Rhine-Ruhr marathon itself. A total of around 250 employees have registered for the three competitions and just under 100 of these for the marathon.

Peter Dollhausen, ThyssenKrupp AG Director, will present awards to the three best teams following the marathon.
