Uhde awarded plant contract from Poland
Poland`s biggest mineral oil and petrochemical group, Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN S.A. in Plock, has awarded Uhde, in the face of international competition, a contract for the revamp of its aromatics production facility. The new plant, which will be based on Uhde`s proven Morphylane® process, will be used to process as feedstocks reformate from PKN ORLEN`s refinery and pyrolysis gasoline from its ethylene plants. In future, it will be possible to extract a total 400,000 tonnes a year of benzene and toluene (as key intermediates for e.g. plastics) from 550,000 tonnes of feedstock per year.
Uhde`s scope of services includes granting the licence, the basic engineering and training the operating personnel as well as consulting during the commissioning phase. Furthermore, the two parties have agreed that Uhde Edeleanu GmbH, a subsidiary of Uhde GmbH, is to be commissioned with carrying out the detail engineering and supplying the plant.
Completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2004.
The outstanding features of Uhde`s proprietary Morphylane® process are excellent product purity, a high yield and extremely low energy consumption. Over 40 plants based on the Morphylane® process now produce over seven million tonnes a year of pure aromatics worldwide.
