Gunnar Larsson appointed new President of Kockums

The Board of Directors of Kockums AB has appointed Mr Gunnar Larsson as the new President of the company. Mr Larsson, 45, who comes from Gothenburg, holds an M.Sc. in Engineering. He joins the company from Saab Microwave Systems AB. Between 1999 and 2005, Gunnar Larsson headed the Surface Surveillance Radar Systems Division of what was then Ericsson Microwave Systems AB. In the six years that he led the division, both sales and profits rose sharply. Well-known products in this business area, for which he had overall responsibility, are the ARTHUR, GIRAFFE and HARD radar systems.

”It will be really exciting to take over as President of Kockums, and I am looking forward to it. This is a company with a high degree of competence, broad experience and good products, especially in naval stealth technology and mine countermeasures. I am keen to develop the company together with my colleagues, and I am convinced that the prospects for doing so are excellent,” says Gunnar Larsson.

Gunnar Larsson took his M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering at Chalmers Institute of Technology in Gothenburg. He takes up his new post at Kockums in mid-May this year. Kockums, which commands a leading position in stealth technology on and below the surface, as well as being specialised in mine clearance concepts, is part of German shipbuilding group ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.
