Adaptable system for bridge construction
Heavy-duty shoring, which serves as a temporary load-bearing structure to discharge the loads from a structure until it is completed and load-bearing, is one of the showcase applications of scaffolding. Combined with hydraulic components, these one-off steel structures can accelerate and cut the cost of construction processes considerably. An example of this is the recently completed sinusoidal arch bridge between Essen and Oberhausen. Its 123.6 m long concrete superstructure crosses active railroad tracks and therefore had to be poured in a position raised by 20 cm on falsework before being lowered on completion into its final position. But that’s not all. The shoring developed by RöRo served both as a support frame and work platform for the assembly of the steel arch bridge.
