ThyssenKrupp AG receives German PR Award 2005
ThyssenKrupp AG has received the German PR Award 2005 in the category "Issues and reputation management" for its "Discovering future technology" initiative. The award, presented annually by Deutsche Public Relations Gesellschaft and the F.A.Z. Institute, is regarded as the highest German honor for strategic corporate communications and exemplary public relations.
ThyssenKrupp launched its initiative "Discovering future technology" in May 2004, involving more than 50 partners from the worlds of business, academia, politics and the media. The aim of the initiative is to generate enthusiasm for technology across all segments of society and promote a technology-friendly climate. Activities to date include 31 advertorial supplements in the German media with numerous contributions to the innovation debate, e.g. on education, economy and research. To allow people to experience innovations first hand, ThyssenKrupp organized an "Ideas Park" in Gelsenkirchen from September 2-4, 2004. This technology event with numerous exhibits, games, shows and personal meetings attracted over 60,000 visitors. Research revealed that the publications and the Ideas Park met with an unusually high level of public acceptance and showed that it was possible to significantly raise the level of interest in technology. The initiative is to be continued in 2006.
