Major order for DAVEX® lightweight profiles
ThyssenKrupp DAVEX GmbH has supplied around 52,000 meters of DAVEX lightweight profiles for the new logistics center of Rhenus Logistics on the Logport site in Duisburg. The profiles are used as horizontal beams in a high-bay storage system offering space for 34,000 pallets. The storage system was built by Tegometall Industrieregale GmbH of Cologne. Rhenus-Logistics operates the logistics center as a central European warehouse for storage media such as DVDs, CDs and USB keys made by Verbatim. ThyssenKrupp DAVEX has already received a follow-up order for 5,000 meters of DAVEX® lightweight profiles for a high-bay storage system in Chemnitz.
For Gelsenkirchen-based ThyssenKrupp DAVEX GmbH this is the first major success for its latest product and comes only a few weeks after it was launched. DAVEX® lightweight profiles are double-T profiles made of thin steel sheet developed specifically for use in storage racks, drywall construction and lightweight structural steelwork. They offer the same load-bearing ability as conventional products but use much less material and are therefore less expensive. Whereas most profiles currently used in rack or drywall construction are made from two C-profiles bolted together, or are given their shape by rollforming, DAVEX® lightweight profiles are true double-T profiles without unnecessary material allowances.
The profiles are manufactured by ThyssenKrupp DAVEX's patented roll joining technology, a continuous process in which steel strips are connected by a firm friction/positive joint to form high-strength beams without the need for welding. ThyssenKrupp DAVEX makes the lightweight profiles from galvanized or uncoated steel strip. The flanges are between two and four millimeters thick and the webs one to two millimeters. ThyssenKrupp DAVEX is the only company on the market offering true double-T profiles in such light gauges.
For the Rhenus high-bay storage rack in the 17,500 square meter Logport warehouse, ThyssenKrupp DAVEX supplied two lightweight profile variants with two-millimeter thick webs and four- and six-millimeter thick flanges. In each case the width of the flange is 50 millimeters and the height of the profile 145 millimeters.
