45 new students accepted onto the ThyssenKrupp study support program
45 new students were awarded places on the ThyssenKrupp study support program by the program selection committee. The main objective of the ThyssenKrupp study support program is to gain highly qualified young specialists and executives for the Group`s subsidiaries.
A total of 450 students had applied to join the program by mid-August 2002. "45 successful candidates and 450 applicants are both record figures in the over 10-year history of the study support program," says Marcus Hein of Corporate Personnel and Social Policy at ThyssenKrupp AG. Applicants had to submit to a very challenging short assessment center as well as already having above-average grades in their school-leaving exams and if appropriate vocational training qualifications.
Almost 75 percent of the new participants are engineering students. Only 15 percent are studying business management. This corresponds to the long-term average balance of new recruits to the Group`s trainee and career-starter programs.
During their studies, the 118 students now on the program receive monthly financial support of 250 euros and are sent regular information on the Group. In addition, accompanying seminars on topics related to their studies and future careers are held and an executive from the Group is assigned as a mentor to each student. The ThyssenKrupp study support program also offers work experience opportunities and assistance with practice-based theses and dissertations.
