New round for the "Jugend forscht" youth schience competition
A new round of the "Jugend forscht" youth science competition has been launched under the motto "There is always something to discover!". All young people with an interest in science, mathematics and technology can now once again enter Germany's best-known youth competition. In the coming year, "Jugend forscht" is once again calling on people to be curious and ask questions - to find out how things tick, you need to look harder. The fascinating question is followed by the experiment. Creativity and persistence will be rewarded - surprise and recognition, knowledge and new discoveries! Dr. Uta Krautkrämer-Wagner, head of the Jugend forscht e. V. foundation: "For more than 40 years, the competition has been making an important contribution toward finding the researchers of tomorrow, who we will need even more urgently in science and industry in the future."
The competition is open to young people up to 21 years of age. The young researchers may choose the theme of their project. However, it must be in one of the seven specialist areas: world of work, biology, chemistry, earth and space science, math/IT, physics and technology can be selected. Projects are permitted from individuals or teams with a maximum of three members. The closing date for entries for the new round is November 30, 2005.
Initially, entries need only indicate the theme. The written projects must be submitted by the participants in January 2006.
One of many regional competitions across the country will take place on February 15, 2006 at ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG (contact: Ursula Schumacher-Schreiter, tel.: +49 (0) 203 52 2 51 57; e-mail: email@example.com). The winners from here will go on to the state level, where the best will qualify for the national final. Cash, special and other prizes worth over EUR900,000 in total will be awarded at all three competition levels.
