Hanover Fair 2002: Life - with steel
The Hanover Fair - the world`s biggest industrial exhibition - opens its doors from April 15 to 20 this year. ThyssenKrupp Steel will be there, presenting application-oriented innovations under the banner "Life - with steel".
On its 1,000 square meter booth in Hall 4 the company will be exhibiting a whole range of innovative products for the automobile, construction, domestic appliance and packaging industries. On display are components of high and ultra-high strength steels for lightweight auto construction together with a model of a ship made of high-strength special steel which is already in service. Also featured on the booth is a model of the Metrorapid magnetic train, which is expected to be linking the cities of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2006.
In keeping with tradition, ThyssenKrupp Steel is inviting customers to its customer day on Tuesday afternoon, giving new and old customers the chance to strengthen their contacts with the company in a convivial atmosphere.
VIP guests are expected on Wednesday, when Wolfgang Clement, prime minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, and economics minister Ernst Schwanhold visit the ThyssenKrupp Steel booth as part of the North Rhine-Westphalia day at the Hanover Fair. The two senior politicians will focus their attention not only on innovative steel products but also on the maglev train.
On Thursday as part of a customer event being staged by Thyssen Vakuum Isolationstechnik a panel discussion will be held on "Steel and cold and the use of special insulation elements made of stainless steel in the construction of refrigerated vehicles and in maintaining the cold chain for food products."
On Friday florists from Hanover will be displaying their wares on the ThyssenKrupp Steel booth. The bouquets will subsequently be presented as prizes to the winners of the daily "Wheel of Steel" quiz.
As in the previous year, on Saturday students are invited to find out more about the Fair, the exhibitors and of course ThyssenKrupp Steel and career openings at the company. On the final day of the Fair Deutsche Messe AG is staging "go for High Tech", a recruitment day for which Edelgard Bulmahn, the German minister of education, has agreed to be patron. As part of the activities, ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG is sponsoring coach trips to Hanover for school students from Duisburg and university students from Duisburg, Aachen, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Bochum and Freiberg in Saxony.
