Brazil is ThyssenKrupp's number one market in terms of sales and production location in South America.

The local companies comprise a workforce of about 14,100 employees. With 4,100 employees, the Group is one of Brazil's leading automotive suppliers. The biggest production company is ThyssenKrupp Metalúrgica Campo Limpo Ltda., established as a local automotive supplier back in 1954. Today, the company employs about 2,250 people.

ThyssenKrupp Elevadores S.A. is Brazil's second-largest elevator company and employs 2,470 people.

Brazil is earmarked as the site of ThyssenKrupp's largest foreign investments. The new steel mill will be built in the coastal location of Sepetiba in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It will have an annual capacity of 4.4 million tons of steel. The investment will include two blast furnaces, a meltshop with two converters and two continuous casters, all meeting the latest environmental standards. The mill is to be built together with the Brazilian ore producer Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD).
