Knowledge Factory

ThyssenKrupp also contributes to the education of children and young people as one of the founding members of the “Knowledge Factory” initiative.

The aim of the initiative is to make Germany more viable as a business location of the future and to shape up the next generation for global competition.

Dr. Ekkehard Schulz welcomes participants in the meeting of Knowledge Factory members.

Dr. Ekkehard Schulz, former Executive Board Chairman of ThyssenKrupp AG, welcomed participants to the meeting of “Knowledge Factory” members held at the Ideas Park in Stuttgart on May 19, 2008.

The “Knowledge Factory” is active in three areas: It promotes knowledge, entrepreneurship and competitiveness. To promote knowledge, member companies enter into partnerships with schools, take part in school projects and seek advice from education experts. School partnerships help teaching children and young people how scientists, engineers and business experts think. Thanks to the dedication of its 70 plus member companies, the initiative has now significantly exceeded its target of 1,600 school partnerships in Germany. A total of 170,000 school pupils and 10,000 teachers have already benefited from the Knowledge Factory experiment kits.
