Culture in the region

ThyssenKrupp has its roots in the Rhine-Ruhr region. This region is therefore particularly close to our hearts. In wide-ranging partnerships in art and culture we provide financial and moral support in order to bring attractive events to areas close to our major locations.

For example, ThyssenKrupp has supported the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra for many years. In summer 2009 we supported an exchange project between the Duisburg Philharmonic and the orchestra of Duisburg’s twin city Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. We also support the philharmonic concerts, among other things.

ThyssenKrupp supports the Folkwang Museum in Essen and the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg. ThyssenKrupp was involved in a public private partnership project to purchase the extensive estate of the Duisburg sculptor and painter Wilhelm Lehmbruck from his heirs for the Lehmbruck Museum to ensure the works permanently remain in the region.

Ruhr Piano Festival

ThyssenKrupp has been supporting the annual Ruhr Piano Festival for over twenty years and regularly sponsors stand-out concerts. For example, ThyssenKrupp recently supported the piano evening with Alexei Volodin held at the Essen Philharmonic Concert Hall in June 2010.
